Going Home

Once upon a time between then and now
There lived a man in the town of St. Joe
Whose life was filled with wit and charm
Many of us were lucky enough to know.

It's a fact this man had such a big heart to share
His selfless acts of kindness were witnessed day to day
This means he did not die from a disease
But instead, from giving it all away.

Now while there are some of us that would argue
His teary-eyed, beer-farting jokes would turn you all green
The real meaning behind them was usually his way
Of "sharing the love"... if you know what I mean.

We have all been blessed to play a part in his life
Throughout all of the good times and the bad
Because this man we all came to know
Was truly indeed a very special lad.

During this time of the Holy Lenten season
When we call out Hosanna on most high
As long as we to keep alive the memories of our friend
He will always remain close to our hearts and never die.

So on this day it is much like Easter
For no one should ever cry, weep, or moan
Doug should not be thought of as gone
Rather it was simply his time to go home.
